Community Radio Projects

Community Radio Projects

In 2004, we started with our first community video unit using VHS cameras. This initiative has come a long way and today the community prodcuers make videos using mobile phones and use social media for dissemination. The wave of community video reporting is finally spreading like never before....

Community Radio Projects

in 2004 ( and later amended in 2006), after a long 10 years of struggle, a historic policy came into effect, known as the community radio policy. According to this, non profit organisations and educational institutions can set up a low power FM radio. This was the first time that the government had recognised a third-tier of media, community media. 15 years later, today there are about 250 community radio stations and its ever growing. Drishti, has been part of this movement of democratising media since its early days. In the process we have supported upcoming radio stations with their license process, studio and equipment set-ups, but most importantly with a training and handholding on creating a team which can truly become the voice of the people. While, we continue to do this work with upcoming stations, now we also engage with projects which engages multiple radio stations to create content on particular thematics.
